What we do?

Our aim

Anticipating the trajectory of change is the cornerstone of organisational success. Our aim is to help you understand the changing world and its impact on your customers both now and in the future. Our ambition is to bring society and all its subtle complexity into the heart of your organisation.

Our skills

We apply the full range of qualitative and quantitative methods to our social analysis and forecasting. We use the best traditional methods and supplement them with innovations of our own.

We passionately believe that the best understanding of social change is achieved by combining qualitative and quantitative methods. As a team, we have a wealth of experience of creatively blending these varied methodological approaches to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.

Whatever the client challenge, we will suggest the right, bespoke approach - whether that involves future-facing focus groups, scenario creation, a future-proofing workshop, robust econometric models, Monte Carlo simulations or any combination of the above.

Our Offers

Strategy and planning

The best organisational strategies are informed by a wide understanding of the outside world and emerging trends. Our work regularly involves embedding this understanding in clients’ strategy and planning processes.

This can be done as traditional consultancy or in a more collaborative way, working closely with clients to make sure that all elements of strategy, and subsequent decision making, reflect a deep understanding of key trends.

Innovation and new product development

We all know that good innovation and NPD is led by great consumer insight. It is even better when it is based on insight from longer-term trends - making sure that the innovation or new product has the shelf-life you are looking for.

At Trajectory we use our futures knowledge as a springboard for innovation and NPD that is both creative and ‘future-proofed’.

Modelling and forecasting

Our modelling and forecasting services are designed for clients who need a detailed and statistically robust picture of what the future holds for their markets. We use a range of quantitative approaches, from standard econometric techniques, Monte Carlo simulation methodologies to rather ‘softer’ approaches, which allow us to incorporate both the quantitative and the qualitative factors affecting a particular market or issue.

Our models not only provide insights and an understanding and measurement of market dynamics, they are a powerful tool to help you predict demand in volatile markets and improve decision-making.

Scenarios and long term futures

Most of our services are focused on the near term future – from now to three or five years’ time. However, if you require a longer-term view we offer a scenario planning service.

As a team we have a track record of delivering robust, illuminating scenarios based on the full range of economic, social, political, technological, environmental and organisational drivers. We use a range of techniques for the creation of scenarios – both quantitative and qualitative. Our scenarios not only help you anticipate the future, they help put you in control of your future by planning for and working towards your preferred scenario.

Think Pieces

We make it our business to keep our fingers on the pulse of social and cultural change. This puts us in a very strong position to write think pieces on emerging issues and trends. We write think pieces on behalf of clients that associate the client brand with a deep understanding of an emerging issue or trend. We also have a great deal of experience in generating and handling appropriate media coverage for our work.

Futures Workshops

Our futures workshops are designed for clients that may not have an immediate need for a fully scoped consultancy assignment, but would like to start thinking about the future and what it may mean for their organisation.

In our futures workshops we present the relevant trends that will shape the future of your organisation and work with you to work out the implications and appropriate organisational response.
